Integrated Social Space

Loneliness is a social issue effecting our increasingly aging population. Integrated Social Space has been designed for the elderly affected by this scoial issue, to form a sense of community whilst reconnecting them with nature through the use of biophilic design.

Biophilic design is created through the use of natural materials throughout the design such as timber feature walls, indoor gardens, petrified green walls and an abundant number of plants. The colour scheme is cool toned with a beach vibe to fit into the location of the site. Floor-ceiling windows are a main feature of the design, providing a large amount of natural light to make the space feel as open and bright as possible.

Integrated Social Space focuses on creating a sensory experience for the elderly using the surrounding area as inspiration.

Designed to the Australian Standards, this space is safe and accessable for the elderly to use and equally, functional for the multitude of services needed on a regular basis.
